about

Mr.C’s Superfreq label is pleased to introduce Freq Traxx, a new complilation EP series for exposing new or previously unreleased gems from our regular stable of artists and friends of the label as well as highlight deserving up and coming producers.

This first volume kicks off with an appearance from the man, the myth, the mischevious legend and King Freq himself, Mr.C. Originally appearing on 2017’s Incidents album, "Stand Up" is a riotous, acid-laced call to arms directed at the challenges facing the clubbing community across the world. Here, Alola main man Omid 16b turns it into a tough tribal 909 drum machine driven acid workout sure to shake the foundation.

Following on from that smasher is “Lil Dirty Girl”, a collaboration between UK indie vocalist Harry Collier and up-and-coming-Philadelphia based producer, Jay Hill. Harry’s emotive voice has been featured on tracks from Faithless’ 2006 album and Jay makes her Superfreq debut after appearances on labels like I Records, King Street Sounds and FM Elle. Together, they turn in a deep, bubbly acid groover, with classic early ‘00s tech house percussion which evokes late night dancefloor moments at legendary London parties like Wiggle, Heart & Soul, and Whoop Whoop. Look for more Jay Hill material due on Superfreq later this year.

Making his Superfreq debut is up-and-coming Mexican producer Niño Árbol, with the bleepy deep tech jam, “Umbral”. Based in Guadalajara, he is a resident DJ at the legendary Bar Americas, part of the NWLA and Cobra Voyage net-label roster, as well as the founder of the ssensorial crew (producer and promoter of electronic music in Guadalajara). A staple of the scene in Mexico, with appearances at festivals including MUTEK (MX), Festival Ceremonia, Marvin Festival, and has started to make his name outside in Europe in events such as Stackenshneider (St. Petersburg, Russia), Circle of Light Festival (Moscow), Sisyphos (Berlin) and others.

Rounding out the EP is “Track In The Making”, from mysterious English producer, Mr. Norf. This tune evokes a recognizable sonic theme from the cold, windy, city streets of yesteryear before breaking it down into trippy, outerworld synths and 808 percussion.
